Mimi Dey is a Vietnamese British artist whose practice began in Sài Gòn as a student of Nguyễn Thị Tâm in oil and silk painting. She now practices installation and performance art in London alongside her studies of South East and East Asian Art History at SOAS.
Her work addresses her bi-racial heritage and childhood in Việt Nam, intergenerational trauma and the remnants of not only the colonial history of Vietnam as a tributary state to China, but also the impact of American and Western capitalist imperialism, as a microcosm of the greater global Decolonial project.
